It's nearly time for our annual Open Blossom Shoot! This is open to all ArcheryGB members, and costs £8.00 for a Senior and £4.00 for Juniors to enter (Lichfield Archers members also have to pay!) - this includes a buffet at the end of the tournament.
The round is an American which consists of:
30 arrows @ 60yds
30 arrows @ 50yds and
30arrows @ 40yds.
This is shot on the full size 122cm face with English scoring. We can also accommodate shorter junior rounds relevant to junior age groups.
This shoot is unusual in being a "Turn up and Shoot" tournament, where you have to turn up by 12.00 noon, pay your money and be given a space!
Could all Lichfield Archers (who are able enough) help with the setup from 11.00am, please!
This shoot also includes the presentation of the Richard Butlin trophy to the Lichfield archer who shoots highest above their outdoor handicap level.
Weather forecast is currently good, with no rain expected. Full tournament report to follow the event...
The sun was out for the traditional Lichfield Archers St. George's Day Shoot today! Sighters were at 11am, with a choice of three rounds for the thirteen archers who turned out. All bow types were represented.
On the St. George round, the Longbow prize was taken by David Murcott with a respectable 204 (a superb new club record), the Compound by records officer William Swingler with 878 and the Recurve by Quentin Kozma with 623.
Ian Smith was the Longbow champion for the The Albion round (a score of 89 - ANOTHER new club record), with Duane Davies scooping the Compound with a 932. Top spot in the Recurve category was Bob Allcock who scored 712.
Finally, the Windsor round had a field of three recurve archers, with Alan Broadley's score of 892 clinching him the crown.
FULL SCORES HAVE BEEN UPLOADED IN THE "COMPETITIONS" SECTION.
Frank Parker managed to put new meaning into the expression "aim high" with this cool miss at 100 yards... Still went on the scoresheet as an "M," unfortunately for him!
Winners and runners-up had a choice: take the medal or take the Easter egg! See below for some photos (and special thanks to Fiona Parker for her skills as photographer for the day... and apologies for including the photo of her refusing to have her picture taken!)
After only one day some of the records had to be updated! Also added are the League Tables for 2016 in all bow types.
The intention is to keep the site as up to date as we possibly can - if you spot an error, contact me on this email address and I'll do my best to get it sorted. And while we're on the subject, if there's anything you think should be on our site, let me know!
The day has finally come... the old lichfieldarchers.co.uk website has finally been put out to pasture, and the new all singing, all dancing lichfieldarchers.com has been launched!
Hopefully you'll notice a few differences with the new site - it'll be more responsive and work much better on a mobile device than the old site.
Plans are afoot to add a "members only" password protected section for confidential information.
Welcome to the new site. If you spot any errors, please email Quentin on this link so that he can correct them.
