We are organising a visit to The National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas on Saturday 19th August 2017 at 10am. On the edge of the National Forest, it is set in 150 acres with more than 330 memorials and 30,000 "living memorial" trees in its grounds: it is both stunning and breathtaking as you take in the surroundings and discover the individual stories behind each memorial. Cost is only £10pp paid in advance - this includes a land train trip and a donation (it costs over £4,000 per day to run the site). Sign up on the list in the range before Friday 4th of August.

Our annual trip to Shakespeare in the Park is looming and this year’s production will be As You Like It, held as usual in the grounds of Maple Hayes Hall, Lichfield.
For those of you who are new to this, we meet about an hour before curtain-up (although there isn’t one) to eat our picnics, drink our bottles of wine and have a chat, before the business of trying to concentrate on the play. The ‘seats’ (straw bales) are usually grabbed by one of us so we can all be together, but they’re not the driest or most comfortable of things, so bring a rug, cushion or groundsheet to sit on. No umbrellas either, so if the forecast’s poor, have a hat or hood to keep the rain off. The production is never cancelled through rain! Tickets will be booked for Friday 23rd June, £15.00 each. You have to be seated for 7.30pm, but turn up with or without your ‘evening meal’ any time after 6.30! To book your tickets, either sign up on the list already on the Entertainments noticeboard in the indoor range, or email Judi or Fiona as soon as possible, but no later than Friday June 9th. Our block booking is usually limited so it’s first come first served. Pay & collect your tickets, by arrangement, from Judi at the club from Monday 12th onwards, please. A synopsis will be provided with your tickets, whether you need one or not. As always, the more the merrier, so please come! |
